Suitcases for Short and Long Trips – Our Experience with LEVEL8 Luggage

As travel and photography bloggers, we’re constantly on the go – and we know just how important good luggage is. Over the years, we’ve tested quite a few suitcases – with mixed results. For our most recent trips, we decided to go with two models from LEVEL8: the Voyageur Checked 28"* in Dark Olive and the Luminous Textured Carry-On 20"* in grey.
We also used the matching packing cubes to keep things even more organized. In this post, we’re sharing our personal experiences with you – and we’ve got a little surprise for you at the end, too!
About LEVEL8 – High-Quality Luggage for Frequent Travellers
LEVEL8 is a luggage brand based in New York, specializing in modern and premium travel gear. Their suitcases are especially popular with frequent flyers thanks to their durability and smart design.
We’d heard of LEVEL8 before and were curious to see if their products would really live up to the hype. Our first impression? High-quality and functional – but of course, we wanted to put them to the test on the road!
P.S.: The “8” in their name symbolizes infinity – which already had us looking forward to how long-lasting their products would be!
Design, Quality, Models & Sizes
Right from the first touch, you can tell these suitcases aren’t just pretty to look at – they’re also well made. The Voyageur Checked 28"* in Dark Olive has a classy matte finish and, despite its size, doesn’t feel too heavy. The Luminous Textured Carry-On 20"* in grey is super compact but surprisingly spacious thanks to the smart layout – it’s now our go-to hand luggage.
We were especially impressed by the 360° dual spinner wheels. Since we often travel across all kinds of surfaces – from smooth airport floors to bumpy cobblestones – it’s a big plus that these cases roll smoothly everywhere. The telescopic handle also feels very solid and fits comfortably in your hand.
Of course, LEVEL8 offers many more suitcase options. There’s a wide range of sizes, colors, and designs to choose from.
Our grey Luminous Textured Carry-On 20"* also comes in olive, black, navy, pink, and white. As for checked luggage, the Voyageur Checked* is a great option. We went for the 28'' in dark olive – mainly because we wanted a color that stands out at the baggage claim. We skipped the black version for that reason (though it does look very sleek).
The Voyageur Checked* is also available in navy, and even in limited editions like yellow-black and celadon – super cool combos, but hey, you’ve got to choose at some point 😄
There’s also an even larger size than our 28", plus smaller options too. For us, the 28" was perfect.

You can also get it as a set with the 20" carry-on – which is a great option if you want both cases in the same color.
Another big plus: the wide telescopic handle of the Voyageur series. We hadn’t seen that before and found it super comfortable – especially when the suitcase is packed full. It makes rolling the case so much easier!

Functionality & Interior
The inside of both suitcases is really well designed. They have multiple compartments and zippered sections to keep everything in place. We especially love the roomy layout of the Voyageur Checked 28"*, which makes it easy to pack in a tidy and structured way.
Even in the smaller Luminous Textured Carry-On 20"*, our packing cubes fit in perfectly – enough space for a short trip or as an extra bag.
Also super handy: the built-in TSA lock. It’s easy to use and adds a nice layer of security. Instructions on how to set your own PIN are included with the suitcase.
Accessories: Packing Cubes – Our New Travel Must-Have
We’d never used packing cubes before and honestly, we were a bit skeptical. But after a few trips with the LEVEL8 packing cubes, we’re hooked! The different sizes help so much when it comes to organizing clothes and accessories.
Especially on longer trips, things can quickly get messy in your luggage – and you end up digging through everything. Since we started using packing cubes, that’s happened way less often. They even help with planning as you pack – you can tick off small “sections” of your suitcase as you go.
We also love the Velcro labels that come with the cubes – they have cute little icons so you instantly know what’s in which cube.
Packing Cube Travel Set – What’s Included?
The set includes four packing cubes in different sizes, which you can buy separately from the suitcases. Each cube has a zipper and comes with those Velcro labels I just mentioned.
You can fit several pairs of shoes into the largest cube, and the smaller ones are perfect for toiletries, clothes, underwear, or tech accessories like cables and adapters – no more random stuff rolling around loose in your suitcase.
Pro tip: The biggest cube takes up quite a bit of space, so don’t overfill it – or use it for dirty laundry instead!
